The Venue
The wedding will take place in a Georgian style mansion with views of the Great South Bay and Fire Island, taking you back to the Great Gatsby era. The mansion is located in east Long Island, New York.
The ceremony will take place in the courtyard, and the reception will be in the ballroom.
Free valet parking is provided.
Public transportation will no longer be in service after the ceremony. Taxis are available only by prior arrangement.
Persian Ceremony
The ceremony starts promptly at 6:00pm. Traditionally, the Aghd ceremony takes place by the Sofreh Aghd, which is a spread laid out on the floor containing many symbolic items. During the ceremony, the couple is seated at the head of the Sofreh facing a mirror.
The ceremony begins and the officiant recites the marriage contract, then asks about the couple’s mutual consent to the marriage. The groom is the first to be questioned and is asked if he wishes to enter into the marriage, to which he answers “yes” immediately. The bride is then asked the same question. However, she does not give an immediate answer, making the groom wait for her hand in marriage. The question is then asked again. At this point, family and friends yell out funny comments about the bride’s whereabouts. This process is repeated three times until the bride finally gives her positive response. This moment marks the point at which the couple is considered married.
Cocktail Hour
After the wedding ceremony comes the cocktail hour at 7:00pm. This is the time when you can mingle with old friends and make some new ones, and enjoy some hors d’oeuvres and drinks.
Food served at this time will include both vegetarian and meat options.
Reception
The reception begins at 8:00pm. Be sure to bring your dance shoes so you can dance the night away. We will have great music and lots of food and drink for you to enjoy.
We hope to see you at our wedding!
